Design of a block in the city center of Belgorod (Russia)

Project details

Design free from any physical hierarchy and psychological barriers, the space inside the block protects and attracts at the same time, provides spaces for leisure and recreation, access and direct experience with nature, contributing to well-being of people.

To favor an optimal social interaction, the spaces have been hierarchically differentiated on the basis of different levels ranging from public space, to semi-public and private spaces, without, however, interposing barriers between one and the other, but rather suggesting a continuous interpenetration between the various sizes.

The ground floor of the residential blocks, partly covered by the semi-private “promenade”, accessible only to residents, will host a fully glazed gallery open in the summer season, with small cafes and shops, essential for life in a space public.

The school and library were placed in the center of the lot.
